National Driver Register (Overview)
The National Driver Register (NDR) is a computerized database of information about drivers who have had their licenses revoked or suspended, or who have been convicted of serious traffic violations such as driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. State motor vehicle agencies provide NDR with the names of individuals who have lost their privilege or who have been convicted of a serious traffic violation. When a person applies for a driver's license the state checks to see if the name is on the NDR file. If a person has been reported to the National Driver Register as a problem driver, the license may be denied.

*** IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT THE NATIONAL DRIVER REGISTER ***
The following three points are things you need to know about the National Driver Register that will help you understand how the National Driver Register works. By knowing this, you will save a great deal of time and frustration.
- The National Driver Register only identifies the state or states which have taken action to cancel, deny, revoke, or suspend or have records of conviction of serious traffic violations.
- The National Driver Register does not contain detailed records. The only information stored by the NDR is your name, Date of Birth and the states or states in which you have had your license revoked or suspended.
- You must have all of the state records that appear in your National Driver Register file in order to get removed from the National Driver Register. Only officials from those states can remove you from the NDR and they will require that you have your state driver record.
What Does This Mean For You?
This means that you need to first get your National Driver Register Driver Record File Check Form to request your NDR Driver Record. Then you will need to get your state driving record in order to know why your license has been revoked or suspended; and what actions need to be taken so that you can get your driver license privilages back.
